Dunworley Beach
This beach is located at the end of the headland and is surrounded by very rugged terrane. Parking and grass areas are elevated allowing for great sea views and the Galleyhead lighthouse can be seen in the distance. There are a number of picnic tables on the upper grass areas allowing a great location for family picnics and barbecues. The grass area leads onto a rock face from which the beach can be seen below and the beach is accessed by a natural slipway. The beach has well compacted sand making it perfect for building sandcastles or games.
This is a tidal beach so it varies from having a large sandy beach to having no beach at all around full tide. It is essential, therefore, to check the tidal times. The beach is surrounded by rocks allowing for the extra activity of finding tiny fish in rock pools (so a great place to bring fishing nets) and caves to explore.
This is a very open location, so the sea can vary from being quite calm to having rolling waves perfect for surfing or bodyboarding. A word of caution, though: swimming is not recommended when the tide is in full, as the water can become very rough.
This is a great family beach but care needs to be taken with young children as there can be many pools between the rocks and the sea can be quite rough on occasion. Parking can also be an issue as the beach is very popular with local residents and it can get very busy during the summer season.
